First time being here. We were in the mood for Thai food and googled something nearby. We had for starters the mango ceviche. Oh so yummy!!! It was delicious but could have been a bigger portion. They serve the ceviche in a small martini glass. For the entrée we had the rice with chicken and shrimp. Also very very good. Two people can definitely share one plate. I also had a glass of red house wine, very tasty for $4. The atmosphere is very calm and peaceful. The restaurant is very clean with dimmed lights, candles in every table, very nice decorated with nice music playing. The view is nice with a fountain outside and view of the street and las vacas gordas right across the street. The waiter was very nice and food came on a timely manner. We didn't have to wait for our food for a long time... the service was great! I do wish they had pillows and a low table to sit on the floor. It's a normal sit down table dinner. We had a great experience and would definitely go back to eat there.

I am not a big fan of thai food but my husband wanted to try it out, so we came here. The staff was very helpful explaining the dishes and making suggestions according to our preferences. The mango & passionfruit smoothie is amaaaazing!

Came here with a Groupon and, unlike most other locations when you have a Groupon, everything was amazing. Great service, great food, and no lame unexpected restrictions. The ambience is excellent--perfect for a romantic dinner or just a relaxing time with friends and family. Super quaint and the staff was very nice. It seemed like we were maybe forgotten when it came time to pay, so it took a bit long to get the check. But overall, we had a great time!

Simply perfect. I was dazzled from beginning to end and enjoyed the "Baskets Crunch" as much as the Thai Ice tea, as my Panang curry. All were simply marvelous, and if they were anything less I would tell you. Please please try this place, if my visit was an indication then you'll be blown away too. Thoughtful wait staff and food that just put a smile on my face.

Never in my life have I seen such horrible customer service and been treated like a sick animal before! So last Friday a group of friends and myself decided to purchase a Groupon for this place, we contacted the restaurant a quarter to 10 to see until what time they were opened, the person who answered told us the kitchen closed at 10:30. We arrived at 10:10 pm and as soon as we stepped inside the entire mood changed, no one greeted us, no one even had the decency to take us to our table. The bartender or whatever he does and the waitress acted like we weren't there. So I went over to the bar and asked him if we could sit ourselves, "he was on the phone at the time" go figure! I don't know why we even bothered at that point. You would think he would have the common courtesy to "speak" but no, he just rolled his eyes and nodded . And this is not even the worse part.. Ohhh no! Once we sat down, the guy walks up to the door closes it, slams the open/close sign and proceeds to turn it off. So my friends and I just stood up and left the place (We like our food NOT tossed around the floor and spitted on before we put it in our mouths :) I feel really bad for whoever owns this place and has those" if you want to call them people" working for them. So we went to the pizzeria across the street "whose kitchen also closes at 10:30 FYI, but received us with open arms, great service and great food like a decent restaurant should do! THANK GOD FOR REFUNDS!!

I came here with a Groupon for dinner and left very satisfied! The ambience is romantic and modern, and the staff very friendly. We had the Basket Crunch for the appetizer, and it was the perfect quantity and the taste was incredible! For dinner, I had the Shrimp Pad Thai and my husband had the chicken Massaman curry. The Pad Thai was perfect, only I wished it was a bit spicier. My husband's dish was also perfectly seasoned and a hint of sweetness. I will definitely return!

It was a late Sunday night dinner, the place can be charming, I got the Red Curry - it was good, but my BF had the massaman beef curry and it def tasted reheated beef. The Thai Beer - Chang is dope though...

I'm fussy about Thai, and have lamented that there isn't a Thai joint near us in North Bay Village worth its weight in satay. Mango Thai came up on a Groupon and it was, therefore, worth a try. While not the most amazing I've having been there three times now it is solid and good. Indoor or outdoors the ambiance is clean and relaxed. The portions won't leave you with left overs for lunch, but we left full. So, on a night when you don't feel like cooking, give it a shot. On a night where you want something transcendent, look elsewhere. (On those nights, let them eat (at) Cake.)

Hubby & I noticed the Tamarind Thai restaurant in Normandy which had been there for years was recently replaced by the new Mango Thai. The last time we ate at the old Tamarind we did not have a good experience so we'd been frequenting Sawadee Thai a few steps away as our go to Thai place. However, the newly opened Mango Thai is a completely new ownership with a totally different menu. So, last night we stumbled upon a great Groupon deal for Mango Thai - $30 for 1 app, 2 entrees and 2 glasses of wine- and decided to try it out. The location is nice, facing the freshly restored Normandy fountain. What makes this restaurant stand out from traditional Thai places is the Latin inspired fusion in the menu such as spicy guava sauce, platanos, ceviche and even coconut flan! The Baskets Crunch app is like a tostones rellenos with a fried plaintain cup filled with thai salad and garlic shrimp. Massaman Curry with cashews was delicious with a side of fragrant coconut rice. They got the medium spicy just right. Panang Curry dish had fresh veggies and was also delicious. We had a very nice experience and will return.

So instead of Tamarind, it's Mango now. This threw me off for a bit and I started to wonder if I remembered the name wrongly. The menu is quite interesting; apparently it's a Thai/Venezuelan fusion now. Frankly, I should've tried one of those dishes, but I was craving Massaman. The chicken Sarah's had a unique flavor to them. Almost as if there was sazon mixed with the curry. The peanut sauce had a unique flavor and texture as well. Once the Massaman arrived, I got more of an overall picture. It wasn't exactly authentic, it lacked the punch I wanted. It wasn't poor, however, just not flavorful enough for my taste. The service was very good, however, and I plan on returning to see if the more inventive dishes can persuade me to add another star.

Mango Thai has closed. There is a Latin Restaurant there now called Shekina Place. It has a mix of Mexican and Venezuelan. The food is great. I had the pabellon criollo that was delicious.

Outstanding. That's about the size of it. Went here on a whim with my fiance and s groupon and it was fantastic! We had s nice glad if wine with a small ago and my live had her pad Thai just the way she likes it, not spicy!I had a basil Thai fish that was great with some nice stand Jasmine rice. Highly recommend!

Loved this place. Pleasantly surprised the first time when craving Thai I remembered old Tamarind which I enjoyed. Mango Thai fusion between latin (Venezuelan and Peruvian mostly) and thai flavors was exquisite. Owners and staff were very welcoming and attentive. Pleasant and creative decor goes very well with the whole theme. Went back again and was just as pleased. Definitely recommend it.

Worst Groupon purchase I ever made. The portions were tiny, and the food tasted poor and had no redeeming flavors. I ordered the shrimp red curry dinner entree... It came with four shrimp. This place is a complete rip off and wannabee thai food restaurant. I will never be coming back to this underwhelming restaurant. Yuck!!!!!

Bought a groupon for two and so glad I that I did! Amazing food and great service. We ordered the basket crunch appetizer - highly recommend. Chicken green curry and mango thai Fried rice which was good too. I would definitely go back here.

I'm sorry to report that this place has been closed. It's now Latin food restaurant. Not mango Thai anymore.

Since my first review I have been back here 3 more times and each time the food quality has gotten worse. It's gotten so bad I had to revise my first review and will never be going back. Period. Really blows b/c it is local and I love the fact they use Yelp ordering online but this past weekend was the icing on the cake... Below is my original review: (01-14-15 Shortly After Opening) Another solid thai spot in the area! Sign me up! I love Sawaddee but they don't offer ordering online via app. Mango Thai does and it was perfect. More than what I was expecting and I'll be ordering from here more often via delivery. I'll still eat in house at Sawaddee but if not tables I'll be more than happy to walk across the street to Mango!

Having a nice dinner with my favorite man. The wait staff was helpful in deciding what dishes to try. I had the snapper in sweet chili sauce. The menu notes that it is spicy but I needed my spice level turned up to 100 because what they brought out was flavorful but no way near spicy. The fish Ishka soup was delicious. The mango appetizer sampler is worth the 13.95 and shareable. Wonderful food experience. The decor is lacking the funky eclectic vibe from the previous Thai restaurant that was here (Tamarind Thai). They have a nice music selection that relaxes one as they eat.

Got a groupon... It would be a good deal if the food was decent. Sat outside because the inside had a funky smell. Pad Thai was edible. Curry was good not delicious. Not the best good sorry :(

I've had green curry before but this one was so flavorful and fragrant and just so good. The waiter was knowledgeable and helpful and suggested a different curry but I went with this one and I'm glad that I did. I had the coconut rice with it; which by itself would have been delicious. The combination however, was euphoric. When the waiter initially brought white rice, I forgot to mention that I wanted coconut rice and he didn't catch an attitude about having to take it back to the kitchen. Overall the atmosphere was nice. The place was a little empty because it was near closing time. Another thing I'm thankful for is how late they stayed open. I would definitely go back.

I feel biased towards the previous owners when it used to be Tamrind Thai. They were amazing elderly couple with great service. But this new owners ain't bad either, menu is not as traditional as previous. This is sort fusiony and quite varied, including Ceviches and Vietnamese Banh Mi. Service is still great. Good luck and hope the service stays as good.

We ordered from here through the Eat24 app, and the experience was quick and easy; the delivery guy was very sweet and the overall food quality was much better than the usual asian food options we have. We had the chicken Pad Thai, pumpkin and peanut dumplings, Fish Laksa soup, and the Basket Crunch. Everything was flavorful and I'd re-order everything, except for the basket crunch. The "basket" is a savory plantain cup (similar to a toston, but in cup form) with a single shrimp laying inside. The dish consisted of two of these cups and two extra shrimp on top of a small bed of greens. The description mentions a sour spicy sauce, but I didn't see or taste it. The shrimp didn't have much taste and the plantain cups were a bit dry; they felt like they were missing a filling. For the price point, one of their ceviches would've been a better option. Beside that, LOVED the fish laksa soup and pumpkin and peanut fried dumplings. So glad these guys deliver!

Horrible food. I took one bite of the papaya salad and it was so strong with fish sauce that there was no other flavor.

If I could I'd give this place 2.5 stars, but that's not an option. This place is alright, but nothing worth going out of your way for. The most shocking thing is the quantity of food you get for the price. The mango and shrimp spring rolls were $8, but only came with 4 pieces that were slightly smaller than my thumb. I had the green shrimp curry. It was decent, and on par with other local Thai restaurants. But the dish costs about $19, which is way overpriced. The service was great - very attentive. And the place was clean, although barren and quiet. All in all, it was just alright. I most likely won't go back.

Pad Thai snob.. I ordered Thai spicy and it came 1/5. Sawadee nearby has better if you're looking for spicy pad Thai like me

I love this restaurant, let me start here. I am lucky that I live very close, and can walk. I have never been disappointed with a meal, a special request or anything other than a warm welcome. My office has had lunch delivered, and everyone loved it. I am allergic to green peppers, and the staff has always been understanding and my food would arrive with red peppers. I love the soupes, the tostones, the samosas, the massaman curries, and many other dishes. And, they serve Thai serve sandwiches. I could go on and on, but, trust me, this Thai restaurant will be around for a long time. There are two other Thai restaurants within a block, but I choose Mango Thai. The staff is the best, and the food is exceptional. I was a chef, and a Restaurant Manager for many years, and highly recommend this restaurant.

Got it for delivery and it was not good. Don't like leaving negative reviews but I am sick of ordering from places with great reviews and it turning out to be gross. Must be close friends of purveyor writing the reviews. My green curry was not even green. It was yellow. I ordered mild spicy and it was hotter than hot. I would say extremely hot. There were hardly any veggies in the curry maybe a sliver of eggplant and a sliver of green bean, neither of which belong in curry. The samosa were ok mostly just fried dough with little filling. Also very spicy. I received a teaspoon worth of chutney to use for them which was not adequate. Won't order from here again. Too bad as it sounded so good.

I have ordered take-out 2 times now and the food has been fresh, hot, and enjoyable. It does take awhile to get your order even when it is very slow inside however I'm ok with the wait. Just make sure the order is checked before you leave to make sure nothing is omitted. Please try and get Thai Coffee. Will definitely be back.

Mango Thai is located in the charming square of Normandy Isle, just a few blocks west of the beach. I used to go the Thai restaurant that was there before (tamarind) and I was not disappointed. I love the chicken pad Thai, and the curry is excellent. I like having lunch there on Saturdays since there is a farmers market in front and you can watch people walking by. The menu is primary Thai, but with a Floridian influence. If you're looking a casual local spot, try Mango Thai.

Amazing food!! They deliver and also have a great place for dinning. Good prices and great service. I have dined in and order takeout a few times. Always felt it was worth every dollar.

Evidently the people who gave this dump a good review have no idea of what good Thai food taste like. This place was awful! The food was dull, the service was terrible and the prices were ridiculous. I beg of you not to waste your time or money here. Please go elsewhere!

This was our first time and it was excellent. We ordered the lunch special. I had the coconut chicken soup and fried rice, both items were very tasty. The other person in my party had the golden bags and tofu red curry, also very tasty. We will be back to try some of the other dishes. Oh yeah, the desert as part of the lunch special was good too...

Like many others, I came here expecting to have my usual at Thamarind Thai, but found that the place had changed names and owners and "themes" a bit. I'm really not sure what I think about the fusion idea with the two styles of food, but it could work. I was always a huge fan of Cubi-Thai on Miami Beach, when that was around. Overall, the place is generally clean, simple, professional, and pleasant. i've been here about 4 times for lunch so far. The person who usually waits on me, I think is one of the owners. He's very sweet, and polite. The food is pretty good. The lunch special price is great. and the price for a glass of wine, is Fantastic :) I would personally recommend the "golden bags" for the appetizer at lunch. I thoughtit was a funny name but they taste good. The soup, i'm rying today for the first time, isn't quite what i expected. There are huge pieces of onion and mushroom, which some people may really love this one because of that, but not my personal favorite. In general, it's a nice place. In this block restaurants come and go a lot. I hope they make it and I plan to be back :)

We decided to give Mango Thai a try and were pleasantly surprised with great food and service. The panaeng curry and thai basil chicken were both excellent definitely some of the best I've eaten. We had 2 toddlers and the staff was very helpful ( bringing coloring pads, child's water cups etc) the only reason I didn't give 5 stars is the appetizers( beef dumplings and green plantains) were not very good they looked to be pre made frozen and just reheated.

  • Patrick S.

If there was 31/2 stars that what I would have left , we use to eat here all the time didn't know there switched owners till tonight , we had snapper and 3 chicken plates cause they ran out of shrimp 1st let me say the ceviche was delicious and all the appetizers were great too , but when the main courses came .. Yuck way over cooked and really really salty kinda like something from a can , but now we see all the great reviews maybe it's just a bad night or maybe the cook died .or had a really bad hangover . Idk I hate to leave a bad reviews , but this is nothing like it was b4 but again we all thought the ceviche was great and the service was good too

For a restaurant that re-opened 3 weeks ago I could see them getting a lot more business soon. The food was awesome. It's thai food with some Latin influences. The Thai basil duck was a great dish. And the Indian samosas with the mango chutney was really good as well. And they had an authentic thai beer called 'Chang' that was refreshing, smooth and really good.

I am so delighted that we found this place! The food was excellent and so was the service! We had the Whole snapper w/ chili sauce. It was prepared perfectly! The fish was crispy on the outside, absorbed just enough flavor from the fabulous sauce! We also has the Basil shrimp, which was served in a very tasty sauce, as well.. This is going to be a regular stop for us! I can't wait to try the ceviche's, soups & interesting salads & sandwiches.. Also, they have a pineapple mint smoothie that was calling my name:) Do your taste buds a favor & give this place a try, you won't be disappointed;)

Basic. We ordered the Thai Spring Rolls and they were extreme oily. We can get this same thing back home for a better price. The Thai Iced Tea had an acquired taste. We ordered the Panang Curry and Pad Thai for the main course. Nothing special. The Pad Thai was absolutely tasteless, completely bland. The Panang Curry was ok... mediocre. There was only one waitress, too. The waitress looked Indian, spoke Spanish, and worked at a Thai restaurant.

Very disappointed in the delivery service from mango Thai, my order came nearly two hours late and when I called multiple times to check the status I told them I would not want to order from them again due to long wait, and the customer service I received over the phone sounded like my opinion was not a concern to their business.

Fabulous meal last night at Mango Thai. Ate Al Fresco and enjoyed the excellent service & incredibly delicious food. Enjoyed the Venezulian & thai influences. The price is right. Great groupon deal. Jeff
